Kathryn taught me how to get out of my own way in this enlightening six week series of workshops. Each three hour session flew by. This course is a wonderful combination of "How to Write" and "How to Survive being a Writer". As a new writer, I appreciated Kathryn's straightforward and practical yet poetic approach to the material. An industry expert, she taught me things I didn't even know I needed to know. The group was kind, nurturing and offered very constructive feedback. This workshop left me energized and inspired to continue to write and submit work.
Dr. Mandy Ruthnum Comox, Vancouver Island, B.C., Short Story Workshop

This course got me writing and finishing fiction again after more than a decade away from it. Kathryn creates a supportive environment for effective critique aimed at improving all aspects of writing short fiction, and her extensive experience of the writing and publishing world is invaluable.
Alan Harnum, Toronto Ontario, Short Story Workshop

"Kathryn is a great teacher, listener and mentor. She provides a space where writers can be vulnerable and lead with their passions and uncertainties about life. Her classes challenge your creative abilities and help you discover your own voice."
Amanda Inglese, Toronto, ON, Short and Feature Film Writing

"This workshop offered a space where I could completely let my guard down. It gave me the courage to read my work to an audience/people I had never met before."
Toronto, ON, Flash Fiction Workshop

"Thoughtful, well-planned exercises that make you leave with a whole pile of material that feels almost ready to go. It's so easy to enter into these exercises. This is really THE crash course in flash fiction."
Toronto, ON, Flash Fiction Workshop

"I enjoyed the stories Kathryn chose, the prompts ... and how she broke down the elements of the short story in very concise and manageable bits. I found it inspiring, and enough work to keep me motivated to push myself along, without feeling overwhelmed throughout the course. I even liked the online platform. It's really simple and easy to use.

I thought I would be really terrified, but Kathryn has such a great way of keeping the terror at bay for me. She's like the writer whisperer! I also found her constructive criticism extremely helpful."
Natasha Nystrom, Vancouver BC, Short Story Workshop

"What I particularly liked were Kathryn's lessons. They were brief, frank and digestible, easy enough to consult while reading and writing, acting like a little guide. Kathryn's revision suggestions were excellent ... Her written feedback was thorough, illuminating and very helpful."
Basia Gilas, Toronto, ON, Short Story Workshop
